Flamenco in San Francisco

In mid-December our friend Kaweh called us and asked if we were willing to do a gig in the city on short notice.  The dance company Caminos Flamencos were performing at the Cowell Theater in Fort Mason December 18-20.  These performances were going to be their best ever.  It would be the perfect opportunity for them to get new footage for a new demo.  It sounded like fun to us.

We talked with Artistic Director Yaelisa and Music Director Jason McGuire.  It began to dawn on us that we were dealing with something way beyond ordinary.  They had done tons of prep: music, choreography, set design, lighting, etc.  We decided we needed to show up early for the dress rehearsal.

We brought 2 Panasonic high def cameras: the HPX2000 for the master shots, and the HVX200 for closeups.  We were a little concerned that the dramatic lighting was going to push the lower range on the HVX200, but this was never a problem.

Jason made a multitrack audio recording of the entire performance.  He wanted to do the editing himself, so we delivered the raw footage on a hard drive.  He did a beautiful job of combining the video and audio, and really captured the essence of the performance.
